Fishing Guides
For an avid fisherman, Chatham is Paradise! Whether you are content to entertain the children fishing off the Mitchell River bridge or you want to find a giant tuna in the Atlantic, there are many options to delight you. Fishing guides and charter boats can make your fishing experience here most enjoyable...and these captains know where to find the fish and accomodate your style of fishing whether it be the challenge of fly fishing for stripers, catching the migrating bluefish or searching for that elusive tuna.
Chatham is on the "elbow" of the Cape and there is access in North Chatham to the waters of Pleasant Bay and the Atlantic via going out through the "Cut". The Cut was created by a washover on North Beach in 1987 and grew for a time to be a mile wide. Caution should be observed when traveling through this entrance to the ocean as the currents and wind condition make this challenging and sometimes quite dangerous. However...once out in the ocean, stripers, blues and tuna await the intrepid fisherman!
Access to Nantucket Sound is found through Oyster River leading to Stage Harbor. Many fishermen like to go down Monomoy Island from Stage Harbor to fish in the rips at the end of Monomoy where the fishing for stripers can be excellent.
Another alternative is fishing in Cape Cod Bay from the harbor at Rock Harbor. Due to the tides there, the charter captains can do two trips a day at very specified times. There is a very limited time frame for leaving and entering the harbor...so if you have a charter planned...do not be late!
Here are some of the captains who do fishing charters in the Chatham area. They all have a depth of experience and Coast Guard approved boats and delight in making your fishing experience a memorable and enjoyable event!
